| This young children's book has fantastic pop-up pages. The pages are very detailed and fun, with large, delightful pop-ups that extend well past the pages of the book.
The first page has a parrot holding a map, and the map has locations which match the figures on the rest of the pages (the book is about 5 pages long) in the book. There's a cute rhyme about finding a pirate's lost treasure and the creatures encountered along the way.
The weird thing about this book is the creepy skull-faced ghost pirate. His picture is on the front of the book so it's not a surprise when he pops up on the last page, however the rhyme says that the pirate ghost is "coming for YOU!" and he is creepy enough looking that it might not be a pleasant bedtime book for a small child.
The other pages are wonderful; the other characters are cute and fun, even the snake and shark are not menacing but more cartoonish. It's just the weird skull faced pirate that takes away from an otherwise very cute book |
