The twins Charlie and Frances are excited when a huge package is delivered to their door, and as they wait for Daddy to get home and open it, they imagine what is in it and argue fiercely about whom it is for. Maybe it is a car for Charlie or a speedy scooter for Frances. They are disappointed when they learn that the deliveryman made a mistake, and Daddy's package is a much smaller tool kit. But then, that turns out to be the perfect package as the twins use the kit to make something amazing––together. The bright, textured, double-page spreads show the kids arguing and wrestling on the floor, and their wild scenarios add mystery to the ordinary things at home. Young children will enjoy the quarrels ("It's mine!" "No, it's mine!") as much as the sweet resolution. Rochman, Hazel |

Format: HardcoverIt was one of those days when children have to stay inside and keep themselves entertained because it wasn't nice enough to go outside and play. All of a sudden the doorbell rang and there was someone delivering a BIG package. "A package has come!" shouted their mother. The children and kitty peeked around the door to see what had arrived. The two of them were all excited because it was so big and their imaginations ran wild trying to guess what it was. Of course Charlie thought it was for him and Frances thought it was for her!
Charlie thought it might be a "big car" while Frances though it could be a "speedy scooter." Now there was going to be trouble because everyone knows how brothers and sisters can act sometimes. "It's mine!" one shouted out. "No, it's mine!" shouted the other. They wanted to know who the present was for but Mom said that they would have to wait until Daddy got home. The two children and kitty sprawled over the package and let their imaginations run wild again. This time Charlie said, "Maybe it's a lion!" Frances agreed and they both thought up many things they could do with a lion. It wouldn't be long until Daddy got home and they'd find out exactly what was in that box.
This is a fun, imaginative story that will strike a chord with families who have two or more children. The "it's mine" phrase that often resonates through these households will make the reader chuckle. The art work is adorable and the bright colors will appeal to young children. Have you got a couple of children in your house with big imaginations who always are yelling "it's mine?" If so, you'll get a real kick out of this book and so will they!
