| Well, this has got to be one of the more unusual board books for babies that we've run across. This one, part of the "Let's Go to the Zoo" series, features pictures of Golden Lion Tamarins in captivity drinking, eating, and cavorting. [Tamarins are a variety long tailed, tree dwelling monkeys.]
On the plus side, reading this book to your baby or toddler lets them see something different. At a stretch you can bring in a discussion of color, up/down, above/below, etc.
On the minus side, the pictures are a little dull. There is not enough facial expression in the photos to interest small children - in my opinion and experience.
Three Stars. [C-] Pictures are okay but hardly spectacular. Text does not make for an inspired read-aloud. A couple of examples follow below so you can judge for yourself. Might be worth checking out if your child is animal-crazy, or at the library.
