| Grade 2-4-Although it's probably impossible to describe dental visits without at least a little bit of traumatic detail, this title is mostly reassuring in its presentation. Aside from the picture of a young patient about to receive an injection of novocaine, the information and full-color photos are straightforward and nonthreatening. The text addresses fillings, cleanings, tooth sealants, X rays, and impressions, and includes a page of hints for parents to prepare their children for exams. Each spread has tips for children while they are in the chair: "Hold your mouth open"; "Take deep, slow breaths"; "Close your eyes and think about something you really like." Reading this book may allow children to sleep the week before their appointment.
