| PreSchool-Grade 2-Cushman and Wood have teamed up for another winner with this whimsical expos‚ of Santa's vulnerability. He may be a bit forgetful, he may not be as fit as he once was, he may have his weakness for cookies-but this green, bearded, bespectacled Santa-dinosaur is irresistible. More a catalog of astute observations-Santa can't drive a car ("That would hurt the reindeer's feelings")-than a traditional story, the satisfying one-liners reveal the endearing down-to-earth side of this holiday icon. Cushman's colorful, imaginative watercolor-and-ink drawings bring the ideas to hilarious life. This title is excellent for reading aloud, but expect to pause while waiting for the howls of laughter to subside.-L. I. |

| Not your run-of-the-mill Christmas book; it talks about what it's like to be Santa: He's a litle forgetful, doen't want to hurt his reindeer's feelings. The tone is comfy; you get the impression that Santa doesn't mind the restrictions on his life and it may end up encouraging you to think about the everyday blessings in your own life. The fact that Santa and everyone else in the book is a green dinasaur was a little irritating, however. |
