Mirroring the language from Genesis, she celebrates all that is beautiful in the world. Beginning with heaven and earth, the illustrations depict each succeeding creation in a wash of delicately hued colors, along with a host of angelic babies who look on and delight in the coming of each gift, from the sun and the moon to the plants and all the creatures of the sea, sky, and land. Finally, an expectant young couple is shown standing on a beach at sunset, as love comes into the world. The following page contains an illustration of the mother and her infant that is filled with light and eloquently conveys the joy of their new relationship. Youngsters will be drawn to the endearing babies featured in each painting, as well as the story's heartfelt message. This title can be paired with Debra Frasier's On the Day You Were Born (Harcourt, 1991).
