| Kindergarten-Grade 2-In this sixth book about Gus and Grandpa, all of the other students bring interesting items for second-grade show-and-tell, but Gus can't come up with any good ideas. During a visit to his grandfather's house, he looks for something to fulfill his assignment on Colorado history. Enthralled by grandfather's photos and stories of the past, Gus has the perfect show-and-tell at last. All ends happily as both his classmates and teacher are as fascinated by the old man's stories and photos. The text is appropriate for newly independent readers and is nicely balanced by full- and half-page color illustrations. The positive portrayal of the multiethnic classroom is a plus, and the warm, loving relationship Gus and Grandpa share shines through. A charming addition to the series.

| Gus and Grandpa are favorites with the kids in my reading classes. The text is approachable and the pictures support the text. My students relate to Gus and Grandpa and their adventures together. The Gus and Grandpa books are definitely a 'hit' in my room. |
