PreSchool-Grade 2—Ben's classroom goes to the dogs when a pup named Riff is introduced as the new teacher. The curriculum for the day includes scratching, sniffing, tail wagging, digging, panting, and growling. Then the principal shows up and asks about the children's day. Colorful full-page illustrations add to the doggone good fun. The placement of the illustrations and text lets readers' eyes scamper across the page. Particularly well done are the stacked faces that show a group of children and create depth in the flatly colored artwork. Basic text is large and simple to read. Additional words and sentences appear in conversation balloons scattered throughout the pictures. While children will enjoy reading this title alone, storytime participants will eagerly join in the activities and beg for repeated readings.—Carolyn Janssen, Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County, OH

Foreign Customer Review / 国外客户评价: |
My child was given this book at a birthday party, and has asked me to read it every day since. She is 5 and has always loved books, since we have read to her since she was a baby, but I have never known her to latch on to one book the way she has this one. This morning she said that she wants every day to be dog day. She loves joining in with all of the motions, and my husband and I have become quite adept at wagging our tails. I have no doubt that this book would be a big hit with groups of kids at playschool.
Parents will share my pleasure that the text is short and easy to read. This makes repeated readings easy. So, for both parents and children, this book is doggon fun! |
