| I might like this book better than Old Yeller. While not quite the emotional classic as its predecessor, Savage Sam is fast-paced, full of action, and brimming with effective period detail. I can't imagine any 10 year old and up boy not loving it. In the book, the children from Old Yeller are captured by Indians, and their father and the other menfolk set out on the trail with Old Yeller's son to retrieve them. I gave it four out of five stars because I reserve full rating for a handfull of absolute classics. This isn't far behind. |
