Overview / 简介: |
The first Un–Christmas classic from the bestselling team of How Murray Saved Christmas.
When Noelle wakes up every morning, she must put her new pony in the backyard with all of her other ponies and her new bike in the garage with all of her other bikes. It is another normal day in Christmas City, where every day is Christmas except for one–the much anticipated but highly uncelebrated Un–Christmas Day.
Perfect for every child who wishes for more, more, and more, the bestselling collaboration of Mike Reiss and David Catrow give a new meaning to the phrase "a joyous holiday."

Grade 1-3–Little Noelle is blasé on Christmas morning when she gets numerous presents including a computer and a pony. Her father grumbles at the abundant feast (Turkey with chestnut dressing and mashed potatoes and carrots and peas and five kinds of pie again?). As it turns out, their dissatisfaction is justified, for Noelle and her family live in a town where it is Christmas 364 days a year. They are grateful for the one day when the decorations get packed away, folks can relax and eat TV dinners, mail gets delivered, and children get to go to school–Un-Christmas! Catrow's colorful, zany illustrations perfectly capture the tone for this tongue-in-cheek cautionary tale. Be careful what you wish for, indeed! |
Foreign Customer Review / 国外客户评价: |
Young Noelle and her slew of friends - Claus, Holly, and Carol - have had it with Christmas, and are ready to celebrate a Merry Un-Christmas. For you see, in Christmas City, Texmas, Christmas is celebrated 364 days a year, which means that each day you are forced to rise early and tear into hundreds of gifts, eat huge quantities of turkey, stuffing, and mashed potatoes, and suffer through countless holiday specials on TV. Which is why Un-Christmas is, in their opinion, the best day of the year. For it is the one day you receive mail, watch anything you'd like on TV - including "Gilligan's Island" - and go to school.
It is every child's dream to celebrate Christmas each and every day of the year, except for one, of course. However, in Mike Reiss' MERRY UN-CHRISTMAS, it is quite obvious that celebrating the beloved, festive day once a year is quite enough. Noelle is an adorable character, whose boredom with Christmas Day is understandable, as is her joy to see mail arrive, and to attend school. The Seuss-like illustrations by David Catrow lacing each and every page are delightful, and truly bring this holiday tale to life - while showcasing just how un-joyful celebrating Christmas 24/7 would be. The perfect book to get you in the spirit of Christmas - and make you appreciate the fact that it comes only once a year!
